Late to the party but i use two programs and 1 nfc card. Tagmo to write the amiibo using their database. And then an app called "Tag Writer" from NXP to erase the data on the card to reuse it. Ive had no issues doing this and most nfc cards on amazon come with multiple so even if the card corrupts i have backups. Highly recommend

I don't have an answer as to why we can't use the phone's NFC, though. Maybe there's some similar limitation. We have to use NTAG215 tags for amiibos, perhaps a phone can't emulate that. Or maybe no one's just taken up the project. Joycon Droid was made so you can use your phone as a controller, the amiibo functionality was added later on.
